The iFootpath only shows a Hybrid map view on the App for following a walking guide and there is not a switch for changing the type of map. The map type on both the Android and iOS/Apple map is Hybrid. This means that the map shows both the satellite view and also the underlying roadmap view.
The Hybrid map view, together with the GPX track, provides information that the roadmap view alone does not provide. It also minimises the data and storage requirements for the walks and App.
